About Us:

Founded in December 2009, Young Athens Professionals (YAP) is a group organized by the Athens County Economic Development Council, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, and Career Connections. Its purpose is to encourage the young professionals of Athens to meet and network while supporting local businesses. There are no membership dues and all events are open to the public. Please share and encourage your colleagues and friends to join.

Q: What is the purpose of YAP?

A: Our main purpose is to provide a place for young professionals in Athens County to meet new people, become part of a social network, and professionally network while having a great time! We also strive to support our small businesses and work to retain talent in Athens County!

Q: Who is the target audience?

A: We aim to provide a social and professional networking space for everyone between the ages of those about to graduate from college to those early/mid-way through their career.

Q: When and Where do YAP Events Take Place?

A: YAP events typically take place on the second Thursday of every month, from 5 pm-7 pm. The location changes every month, so look for information here or on our Facebook page about upcoming events. Special events on weekends or other dates also happen once in a while… and they’re always outstanding.

Q: How do I sign up to host or sponsor an event?
