Sara Marrs-Maxfield

Ms. Sara Marrs-Maxfield has been with the Athens County Economic Development Council since its beginning in January 2009. Prior to her appointment in 2012 as Executive Director, Ms. Marrs-Maxfield served the organization as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. Under her direction, the ACEDC has expanded programming, secured grant dollars, and developed new partnerships with industry.

Prior to joining the ACEDC Ms. Marrs-Maxfield taught in the School of Health Sciences at her alma mater, Ohio University. She also volunteered extensively with her church, Ohio Valley Summer Theater and Arts West in Athens, OH.

Ms. Marrs-Maxfield graduated cum laude with a BS in Health from Ohio University. She has continued to pursue professional economic development education through Oklahoma University’s Economic Development Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the International Economic Development Council.  Ms. Marrs-Maxfield is a proud member of the Athens AM Rotary club, Ohio Economic Development Association, International Economic Development Council, National Rural Economic Development Association, and serves on the board of directors for the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance.

Ms. Marrs-Maxfield resides in Athens, Ohio with her husband and daughters.
