January 2022 Lunch and Learn

The Entrepreneurship Development Group is excited to announce that the January 2022 Lunch and Learn presenter will be Athens County native, Jonathan E. Robe, Esquire. The title is “Overview of Intellectual Property Law and Emerging Legal Issues”. The Lunch and Learn will focus on understanding intellectual property and how that impacts your business. Summary:

Intellectual property now accounts for 40% (and growing) of U.S. GDP.  As the use and exploitation of intellectual              property becomes even more prevalent, interactions with intellectual property legal issues have become more frequent and even inevitable.  This presentation gives an overview of intellectual property law and describes recent changes to the law that may have an impact on the Athens community.

Bio:

Jonathan E. Robe grew up in Athens, Ohio and is a third-generation Athens lawyer.  He earned his B.S.M.E. (Mechanical Engineering) degree from Ohio University and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the State of Ohio.  He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he focuses his practice on mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies.  Jonathan practiced intellectual property law in the D.C. area for several years before moving back to Athens in 2020 to join Robe Law Office, the family firm.  He now divides his practice between patent and other intellectual property law matters and those matters more typically associated with practicing law in a small town.  He and his wife and two young children reside in the Athens area
