COLUMBUS, Ohio – During his briefing Thursday afternoon, Gov. Mike DeWine credited Ohioans for doing a great job at flattening the curve and saving lives.

As he continued, he made one point clear: “We must get Ohio’s economy moving again. We must get people back to work.”

DeWine added that the state wants to get those people back to work with some reopening on May 1 as the current stay-at-home order ends that day.

In re-opening any business, DeWine said it will be essential to provide a safe environment for employees because we cannot have a large spike of COVID-19 cases.

DeWine said they have appointed an economic group of advisors including businessmen and women from across all sectors in the state to address this economic crisis.

“We have learned a lot from our companies who are considered essential and are still open during the stay-at-home order. Many safety precautions have been put into place to protect employees,” he said.

He added that life will not resume to normal for some time, saying we need to continue taking precautions to protect the most vulnerable people.
